We had a busy but ultimately successful Thursday as Oneofthesenights and Chapmanshype completed an across the card double at Stratford and Fontwell.

Oneofthesenights maintained her unbeaten record when winning the class 3 novice hurdle at Stratford under a double penalty.  She extended her winning run to 4 in a row since she had won an Irish Point-to-Point previously.  There was a bit of scrimmaging around the final turn in this two-horse race, but our mare came out on top in the run to the line.  Following a steward’s enquiry, Gavin jumped in my car which was waiting at the entrance to the track, and we rushed off to Fontwell.  Having fought through the traffic we arrived at Fontwell with one minute to spare for Gavin to weigh out for the last where we ran Chapmanshype who duly won this handicap hurdle in the manner of a fast-improving horse.  He had been a bit of a work in progress, but everything is falling right for him now and he is the type who can continue to thrive through the autumn.

Chapmanshype wins again to give us an across the card double.

I was delighted to see Pacify win his third novice hurdle from as many starts last week.  He carried a double penalty to win by 30 lengths, and was most impressive.  We’ll aim for the Listed hurdle at Kempton in October with him now.  The handicapper has given him a mark of 140, and interestingly enough the horse that was 2nd in the Supreme Novice last season had exactly that mark…..
