Poor Ian Popham had a nasty accident yesterday whilst riding out for Caroline Keevil - a horse slipped and fell on top of him, which resulted in Ian breaking his pelvis in 3 places.  He was air lifted to hospital, where he has already had one operation on his bladder, and he has now been transferred to Frenchie hospital, where they will operate on his pelvis.  I am gutted for him, as the season had started so well for him, and he was riding very well.

Ryan Mahon deputised for Ian on American Ladie who ran in a big field mares novice hurdle at Newton Abbot yesterday.  He gave her a lovely ride and she ran extremely well to finish 2nd behind Dream Function (Captain Chris' sister - Captain Chris won the Arkle last season!), and they pulled 13 lengths clear of the 3rd horse.  That is the 12th second we have had this season which is quite frustrating, but at least they are continuing to run well.
