I was delighted to get winner number 19 up for the season at Market Rasen before the 10-day break from jumping. Ray's the Money had been off the track for a year prior to joining us, but he had some pretty useful from to his name, and had worked well when we took him away to Lingfield last month for a racecourse gallop. Thankfully, it all fell right for him under a very well-judged ride from Gavin Sheehan. We’ll see what mark he gets now, before making any plans with him as he could go handicapping now, or we might try to defy a penalty in another novice hurdle.
Ray's the Money wins a maiden hurdle at Market Rasen.
Bucko’s Boy made his racecourse debut on the same card and was a fine 2nd in the bumper. He was only beaten ½ a length under Page Fuller, and he should go one better before long. He is the first foal out of a three-time winning mare called Buxom who we trained a few years ago, and he is the first homebred for Andy and Jan Ward, so it was a very pleasing days racing.
Now we are in the middle of the 10-day break from jump racing, so the jockeys are all on holidays but with the winter horses all back in now, there is plenty to be doing back in the yard. I am just writing up the blurb for our ‘horses in training’ brochure for this season, and I am very excited about the team we have here at Folly House. Let’s hope it could be a record-breaking season, with another big winner or two……
