With the horses continuing to be in great form, we've all had a wonderful Christmas, although with three small children it has been a bit hectic….and now the snow has arrived!

The team enjoying champagne and bacon for breakfast on Christmas Eve.

Another three winners last week took our tally to 19 for the season to date.  Midnight Silver benefitted from her seasonal debut to score for the 6th time in her career under a lovely front running ride from Gavin Sheehan.  On the same card Gavin gave Oscar Star a patient ride to score in emphatic style and she looks a lovely staying mare for the future.

Midnight Silver and Oscar Star both win at Southwell last weekend.

I was thrilled to see Hogan’s Height win his novice chase at Ludlow.  He’d been hitting the cross bar this season and deserved to get his head in front.  He once again jumped with aplomb and we could step him up in class now.

Hogan's Height deservedly wins a novice chase at Ludlow.

I was delighted to get Champagne James back on the track after almost two years off the track and he ran well to be 2nd in a novice chase at Bangor.  He’ll improve enormously for that run and he’s come out of the race sound and well, so I look forward to the rest of the season with him now.  Monbeg Theatre was another to come back from injury this season and after taking a heavy fall over fences at Chepstow, it was lovely to see him bounce back to be 2nd over hurdles.  We’ll stay over hurdles this season with him now and there should be a big race in him.

Blue Bullet was another to hit the cross bar, he ran well to be 2nd at Wincanton yesterday where he lead most of the way but was denied in the shadow of the post.  He’ll go up in trip now and it should be long before he gets his head in front too.

Blue Bullet is just caught close home.

I was looking forward to seeing Three Ways run at Wetherby today, but the snow has caused a bit of havoc and we’ve not made it there…..we’ll now concentrate on getting the horses out onto the gallops to give them a canter, and get them back in and wrapped up warm ready for the big freeze tonight!
