We’ve had another 5 winners from just 13 runners this month.

She Is For Me Boys was our first winner of the month, and our first under the new sponsorship agreement with Fitzdares.  She won well at Worcester, benefiting from a tongue tie, jumping from fence to fence under a lovely ride from Gavin for Karen and John Gunn.

Our second winner of the month came again at Worcester; this time Kernie d’ Airy was the very worthy winner.  She too stepped forward for the application of a tongue tie and the drop back to two miles as she showed a nice turn of foot to win her first race over hurdles, supplementing her bumper win.  She looks the type that's going to progress and improve with time, and she'll certainly be exciting when we send her chasing.

Donnie Azoff won the following day down at Newton Abbott under a lovely ride from Izzi Ryder. Given plenty of time to creep into the race, she let the front runners fight it out turning in and she produced him very late from the back of the last to get up in the dying strides. Donnie Azoff is an admirable veteran, a 10-year-old now, he seems part of the furniture here at Folly House. It's nice to see him showing all the enthusiasm that he did as a three-year-old.

It was lovely to see Obsessedwithyou winning back over hurdles up at Hexham.  This was her 7th win of her career, after winning two Junior NH hurdle races, we've mainly been campaigning over fences, where she has won on four occasions.  However, we utilised her novice hurdle status by winning here without a penalty and it was a nice prize to pick up as well. She'll carry a penalty on the back of that, but she should be able to defy that penalty at Stratford later on in July.

Our Guide made it four wins out of his five career starts when winning with a bit in hand on his handicap debut at Worcester last week.  He looks to save a bit for himself when he hits the front, but Gavin timed his challenge to perfection to win quite impressively.  He should be able to win again before we drop him back into novice company in the autumn.

Of our other runners this month, Doc McCoy hit the crossbar when second again over fences down at Newton Abbott. Unfortunately, he picked up a bit of a niggle that day, so he won't be out for a while. Having won his previous two novice hurdles, we thought Machete Beach might be one to target the summer hurdle, but it didn’t quite happen for him last week when he was third at Stratford.  We’ll reassess where we go with him, but he looks to be off a workable mark in any case.  Palma Springs ran well to be fourth on her 3rd start over hurdles and now qualifies for a handicap mark.  She will have a break now though, and we should be able to capitalise off that mark when she strengthens up.  Maria Mes was fourth for the racing club on her hurdling debut, and she should be able to pick up races as the summer progresses. Our thoughts obviously go out to Andy and Jan Ward, who owned and bred Janworth, a dual winner for us last season, who took a fatal fall at Worcester.  In sport there are highs and lows, and racing is no different - that was a horrid low, but thankfully we know there are some incredible highs too, and we look forward to those again.
