Happy New Year to you all – thankfully we started 2019 in the same vain we finished 2018, with another winner and let’s hope 2019 is full of fun and success and plenty of winners too!

Scorpion Sid ended 2018 on a high as he bolted up in his beginners chase at Haydock on his 2nd chase start, to take his tally under rules to 3 winners from 5 starts.  Having won two novice hurdles last season, I always thought he’d make a better chaser, so we didn’t over race him as a hurdler and our patience is being rewarded now as he could turn into a proper staying chaser.  He’s improving all the time, and I think we may look to run him in a Grade 2 Novice at Haydock on 19th January.  Although we do need it to rain before then…..

Scorpion Sid is now 3 winners from 5 career starts.

Having ended 2018 with a winner it was a great thrill to start 2019 with a winner as Hogan’s Height got his career back on track with an authoritative win in a novice hurdle at Catterick.  He won three novice chases last season, but things hadn’t fallen his way this season, so it was a lovely confidence booster for him, and I think we can win another over hurdles before we think about a bigger target back over fences with him.

Hogan's Height wins his novice hurdle.

I was pleased with King Vince’s effort to be 4th on his second chase start, and think he will progress from there, and the same comment applies to Alrightjack who won a bumper earlier this season, and will improve on his hurdling debut, where he was pretty green.

We’ll have a couple of runners this week, but really we could do with some rain now……
