We haven’t had many runners throughout the month,as the winter horses aren’t ready yet, and the summer team won’t appreciate the soft ground we have at the moment after a very wet month!  However, I am delighted that we have added another winner to our tally, so we head into October with just shy of £110k in prizemoney and 12 winners on the board, which is exactly the same as last season!

I was thrilled to see Handlethekettle winning a maiden hurdle on his debut for us, under a sympathetic ride from Gavin.  He is still a very green and immature horse, who has so much potential.  We might aim him for the Grade 2 Persian War at Chepstow in a couple of weeks time.  He runs for the Racing Club, and shares in him can be bought for just £60.

Handlethekettle wins on debut for us.

Having won earlier this summer, Bucko’s Boy was beaten a short head in a valuable Class 2 at Bangor off a mark of 130.  An error at the last proved costly, but he has shown he can win a nice race, so we’ll put him away now and bring him back for the spring.

Climbing was 3rd at Worcester in a novice chase.  He looks like he can be winning races this autumn.  Whislt Top Speed has also been 3rd this month.   Of our other runners, Shaving was only beaten 2 lenghts on her second start for us, and hopefully she too can progress now.

Six time winner, Pisgah Pike ran his last race this month before an honourable retirement.  He was 5th in the valuable ‘Prelude Hurdle’ at Market Rasen, the track he won the Summer Hurdle back in 2022.  Having won almost £75,000 in his career,  he has been a wonderful horse for us and Value Racing Club.  It’ll be hard to replace him.

Two years ago, we bought La Marquise as a 2-year-old in the middle of France, and she has subsequently won two bumpers and she picked up invaluable ‘Black Type’ when 3rd in the Grade 2 Aintree bumper.  Last year we bought a gorgeous 2-year-old Beaumec De Houelle filly called Ride Like A Girl, who again we backed and rode away in Ireland.  She has been produced beautifully and looks a seriously talented and exciting prospect.  So, we went back to the source and this time purchased a 2-year-old gelding called Cameron De Fiacre who is by Choeur Du Nord, a young stallion by Voix Du Nord (sire of Grade 1 winners, Kemboy, Defi Du Seuil, Espoir D'Allen etc etc).   Choeur Du Nord was a winner over hurdles himself and has already sired Graded winners Heart Wood and Jeriko Du Reponet.  Cameron De Fiacre is a brother to a 5-time winner and is out of an unraced dam from a cracking pedigree from the family of the well-regarded stallion, Cokoriko, and the wonderful Grade 1 winning mare Benie des Dieux.

If you are interested in getting involved in him, then do let me know…..

We held our annual owners party earlier this month, where we paraded about 30 of our string in front of 300 guests.  It was a pleasure to show off some of the established stars, and some of the newcomers we have bought over the summer months.  We were lucky enough to escape the rain and we enjoyed drinks and canapes in the garden afterwards.  All in all, a lovely afternoon, and hopefully another really exciting season is just around the corner.
