We experienced the ups and downs of racing yesterday at Towcester in what was a rollercoaster of a day.  Jawhary stormed to victory up his beloved hill, under an inspired Matt Stanley.  I was over the moon for the horse, the owners, and of course for Matt.  It was certainly compensation for Uttoxeter, and I was chuffed for Matt, as he rides nicely and his confidence needed a boost.

We then saddled Buxom in the following mares novice hurdle, where she started a very warm favourite in a moderate looking race.  We think an awful lot of this mare, as she has been working extremely well at home, and I do think she has a very bright future.  She was forced into making her own running, and after jumping a bit slowly over the first two flights, she really got going down the back, and travelled powerfully into the straight with the opposition nowhere to be seen.  Then all of a sudden when she was three strides away from the 2nd last flight of hurdles, she spotted the entrance to the paddock and swerved violently left handed, and almost ran out.....  Sam pulled her back in just in time, and she cat leaped the hurdle, she then did exactly the same at the last hurdle, and fore fitted around 15 lengths, and let the other horses up the inside.  Sam got her back on the level, and she quickened up like the smart mare she is, but went down by a diminishing length.....Bugger!!!  I remember Miss Milborne doing a similar thing at Fontwell last season, and if Buxom can follow in her shoes, then all is not lost.  I do like Buxom a lot, and there is still a quarter of her for sale!  Surely she is a winner without a penalty......
