What a month for the team here at Folly House, with 20 winners to add to the seasonal tally taking us to 53 with over £560k in prize money as we sit in 6th in the trainers table with an astonishing 31% strike rate, which betters any in the top 25 in the table!

I was thrilled to see Fresh Perspective jumping so much better than when winning on his hurdling debut, as he made it two from two over hurdles, picking up the valuable Introductory hurdle at Wetherby on ITV.  He might head to Sandown next weekend for a Listed contest.  Marche D’Aligre was unlucky not to make it a double on the day, as he was beaten a neck.  Kosac d’Oudairies looked impressive when his winning on his hurdling debut around Lingfield. He virtually made all and kept on well up the run-in showing us that he will be a nice prospect for the future.

Legendary Luke looks another hugely exciting horse for the Racing Club as he also made a winning debut over hurdles.  He relished the soft ground at Ffos Las and powered clear to win what looked a competitive race.  He is out of a sister to Gold Cup winner, Native River, so he will surely make up into an exciting novice chaser next season.  For now, he could be one we target at the EBF Final at Sandown.

Silver Hill also got off the mark this month winning at Catterick. He improved from his hurdling debut at Fontwell, when he made a few jumping errors, but he was foot perfect here. He will keep improving especially when going up in trip and encountering proper winter ground too.

Last weekend we sent three to Windsor, which reopened last season, and has converted back to the figure of 8 configuration for this season.  Future Bucks kicked off the day putting in a stellar performance to make it a winning debut for the team and his first run since coming over from France. She is out of a sister to Big Bucks, and so will hopefully keep improving, and might be one for the Mares Final at Newbury. Super Survivor nearly added a second winner for us in the following race but was just headed on the run to the line, as he just took a blow.  He will improve for his first outing of the season, but we were delighted with him.  Alex has done a tremendous job with him as he’s not the easiest to train. Hardy Du Seuil finished off the day with another fantastic winner for the team, under a great ride from Izzi Ryder. She now just has two more winners left on her 7lbs claim!

It was lovely to see Canty’s Cove make a winning racecourse debut in the bumper at Taunton this week.  This son of Crystal Ocean had been pleasing us in his homework, and he quickened up really impressively to make a smart start to his career.

With the team in such good form, we were relishing the prospect of three good chances at the “Hennessy” meeting at Newbury this weekend, and although we didn’t run Ga Law in the big race itself, we did come away with two big winners from two runners.  Wendigo jumped superbly and showed real stamina to win the John Francome Grade 2 Novice Chase, for the Racing Club.  He now deserves to step up in trip, and have another crack at a Grade 1, and the Kauto Star at Christmas looks the obvious race for him.

We were lucky to have another big race winner yesterday as La Conquire won the Listed Novice Hurdle at Newbury in impressive fashion.  She is a mare with so much speed, but she stays and jumps well too and is super exciting for the team.  I hope we can work back from Cheltenham in March with her now!

It was a real thrill to see Loveable Reprobate winning a bumper at Carlisle today on his racecourse debut.  He is a big, raw talented individual, but he is still such a baby, and the future is very bright for him, but he will just need time.  He was our first winner for Olly and Sasha Brendon and they have some really exciting young horses with us.....

What a month……let’s hope the luck can continue…..
