Having fallen at the last with the race at her mercy when 10 lengths clear at Southwell last Monday, it was a relief that Janworth bounced out of the race so well that she won by 8 lengths at Worcester just three days later under Joe Anderson. She is owned and bred by Andy Ward who was as relieved as any of us. She is now two from three this season and looks to be improving all the time.
Gavin gave Handlethekettle the most sublime ride to win at Worcester yesterday for the Racing Club. He has won three of his five starts for us, and although he had disappointed last time out on his chasing debut, back over hurdles he looks to be another progressive horse.
Kitesurfer and Hope Rising both finished 2nd this week, and perhaps both can be counted as slightly unlucky. Kitesurfer would have benefitted without the deluge of rain that fell before racing at Worcester turning the ground soft! Whilst Hope Rising lost 10 lengths at the start and was only beaten by 2 lengths, which was mightily frustrating……but she’ll hopefully make amends next time out.
Socialiser ran the best race of his career when 3rd at Uttoxeter at the weekend, and hopefully he can get his head in front this summer. Meanwhile, Reach For The Moon was 4th on his seasonal debut for Her Majesty The Queen and Lady Keswick.
Lucy and I had a wonderful day at Royal Ascot on Tuesday to watch some incredible racing, highlighted by Field Of Gold winning the St Jame’s Palace Stakes.
