Thankfully, we have started the new season as we finished the last, and it was fabulous to see Donnie Azoff winning on the first day of the new season.  He was fresh and well, and Gavin produced him perfectly to win on his seasonal reappearance.  He looked to appreciate going up in trip, and there should be more to come from him this summer.

Knights Affair followed up by winning on his hurdling debut for the Value Racing Club.  He was bought off the flat and certainly has the size and scope to make into a smart jumper.  He is still a big, raw individual so there should be a lot of improvement to come from him.

The long trip to Sedgefield o Tuesday evening paid off as Janworth also won on her seasonal reappearance.  Although she is 8 years old, she hasn’t taken much racing over the years as she has taken time to fill her frame, so it was wonderful to see her winning for her owner/ breeder, Andy Ward.

It was lovely to see She Is For Me Boys winning last night at Fontwell, to cap off a wonderful 10 days at the start of this season.  She jumped really well, bowled along in front and won by 14 lengths.  She should be able to win under a penalty before we send her novice chasing, which is where she should really excel.

Of our other runners, Flying Pimpernel was 2nd on her racecourse debut in a bumper at Fontwell for my Racing Club.  She looks to have a bright future and should be up to winning a bumper this summer.  Another who should win a bumper is Garde My Guinness who was 3rd on her debut at Southwell.  Machete Beach was 3rd on his hurdling debut, but did an awful lot wrong through the race and he will improve enormously for that outing and could be a smart type for this time of year.
