What an amazing two weeks we’ve had as a team with 10 winners on the board. We kicked the start of the month off with Livingonaprayer a talented and enthusiastic member of the team, known for her willing attitude and unmistakable zest for jumping. A horse who wears his heart on his sleeve. She wasn’t beaten far on her racecourse debut in a junior NH hurdle race at Wetherby. Obviously, she lacked experience here but showed promise. She has been given time to mature and strengthen, which showed following it up with a nice win at Huntingdon.
We then had Jackstell who ran for us at Plumpton. He won two novice hurdles in two week earlier this autumn and stepped into handicap company here off a workable mark. We thought he should appreciate this step up in trip and should take all the beating. He’d been improving with every run and seems to love his racing. The way he handled both 2m and 2m4f trips shows he’s got a good engine and plenty of stamina, which showed winning comfortably for the team.
Roe And Co is another who’s really finding his feet, off the back of a good break he was able to make his seasonal debut a winning one around Chepstow. He was 3rd on his handicap and chase debut at Ffos Las, now putting together back-to-back wins over fences, winning his second race only week later avoiding a penalty. He stays well and looked to enjoy the step up in trip. He’s learning with each run and looks the type who’ll keep improving as he gains more experience. He jumps well, travels strongly, and gives the impression there’s still more to come.
Only one day later we had TipTopTim represent the team heading to Ludlow. He was a really pleasing 3rd on his racecourse debut in a bumper at Plumpton and improved for the outing to win well on his next start. We knew he jumped well and had room to develop into a smart novice hurdler this season. He was a fine 2nd on his hurdling debut over 2m at Uttoxeter, and the form of that race had worked out exceptionally well. He looked like the horse to beat and proved himself putting in a nice performance to win.
I then headed to Aintree for the Grand Sefton where Colonel Harry would make his seasonal debut. He was 2nd on his debut last season but didn’t stay in the Hennessey and then tipped up at Cheltenham. Back off a break, we knew he’d love these fences and providing the ground stayed soft enough, he should run well. Gavin gave him a top-class ride to avoid trouble and get him home with his nose in front. what a big winner for all the team at home.

Our next winner was Admiral Stewart. last season he won a novice hurdle at Ffos Las and running another big race at Ayr. He’s now heading over fences. He’s a big, scopey type who jumps well and seems built for chasing
Idy Wood is tough, reliable, and improving all the time. He won well on chasing debut at Kempton in October and again at Ludlow in the spring. He looks better handicapped over hurdles now - he won well on his seasonal debut, and he was an excellent 4th in the Silver Trophy. He backed this run up with a lovely run at Kempton under Gavin who gave him a superb ride, traveling beautifully through his race and seems to love that 2½-mile trip. We might look at the Lanzarote Hurdle for a future race. She Is For Me Boys made it a double on the day at Kempton. jumping fluently and finishing her race off with real authority and looks to have taken to fences like a natural. She looked a smart mare when winning two novice hurdles in the spring and she can continue to progress over fences.
Another winner in short succession as Lady Taditha headed to Huntingdon. She was very impressive on her bumper debut when she won at Huntingdon. She was given time to mature and fill her frame, she looks an exciting novice hurdler. She won very impressively on her hurdling debut, and that race has worked out well. I thought she should take all the beating despite the 7lbs penalty. She’s only young and still learning her trade, but she looks straightforward and willing — two big positives for a developing jumper. If she keeps progressing, she should find more success as she gains experience.
It’s only the middle of November and we’re only 19 winners off our best season so far, with plenty of big meetings and races still to look forward to.
