Earlier this summer we were sent a couple of lovely young horses from Kate Buckett who had trained them under her permit, however she had decided to retire from training and wanted to become an owner instead. Both horses had their first runs for us yesterday and we were all absolutely delighted when Battleofthesomme won and Tractor Fred was 3rd.
Battleofthesomme made his debut over fences, and didn’t put a foot wrong under a lovely ride from Page Fuller as he bolted up in the rain softened ground at Southwell. We’ll see what the handicapper does but if he is alright, we may run him back over hurdles without a penalty next week. Meanwhile, Tractor Fred was also making his chasing debut, and he too jumped very soundly but was just done for a bit of speed from the back of the last. He’ll be winning races this season especially when the mud is flying.
Battleofthesomme wins on chasing debut at Southwell.
Bumper winner, Redbridge Gold was 4th on hurdling debut yesterday but a bad mistake at the 3rd last cost her any chance and she’s come back with a rather annoying cut which although will be fine, it might take a moment to get right.
Anyway, I am thrilled that we are now on 31 winners for the season, and amazingly enough there are just three trainers in the country that have had more winners than us this season…..
