Wednesday 2nd November 2016 - the woodwork is being hammered!

I am thrilled the horses are running so well, but 5 seconds this week from 6 runners is proving quite frustrating, especially as that now adds up to 22 seconds from 82 runners this season!

We had a busy Monday with two runners at Hereford and two at Plumpton. Adrrastos was a good 2nd on debut for us, and we thought we’d found a good opening for him at Hereford but he pulled a bit too hard and was caught flat footed inside the final furlong and added another 2nd to his tally of placed efforts. Kassis was 4th in a good mares race, but unfortunately didn’t do her chances any good by jumping out to her left on this tight right handed track.

Meanwhile down at Plumpton Queens Well looked like she’d won but unfortunately went lame inside the final 100 yards and so finished 2nd. It looks quite a nasty injury and so will have to be retired and will become a broodmare. Our run of seconds continued as Kapgarde King also filled the runners up spot. He won so nicely at Wincanton on chasing debut, but we probably ran him back too soon and he was a little bit flat.

Tuesday was another day, another month, but we had yet another second as Double Treasure finished runner up for the second time in a novice hurdle, and today we had yet another 2nd as Orchard Park was only just denied in the shadow on the post at Chepstow. He ran a lovely race and just looked a bit green as he ran around inside the final furlong. As he matures further, I can see him developing into a lovely novice chaser for next season.

We have two runners tomorrow, so let’s hope our good run of form can bring us a winner as opposed yet more seconds!
