We had a very productive schooling session this morning on the grass. Souriyan and Monbeg Theatre schooled upsides each other and were foot perfect, which is great as the next time they will leave the ground will be in the Fred Winter and EBF final respectively. Val de Law popped a few fences again and he’ll head to a beginners chase at Leicester next week. Other to school this morning were KassisLord of the DunesBorguy and Centoria.

Souriyan and Monbeg Theatre school over hurdles prior to big targets ahead.....

I was rather hoping we’d found a suitable opportunity for Rhythm Star to get her head in front again at Wincanton this afternoon. We put Will on board to take a handy 10lbs off and so offset her penalty, and the theory looked great. However, she was a well beaten 2nd, and just failed to jump with any fluency in very tiring ground. One bad error at the last down the back cost her any chance really, but she showed great tenacity to battle on for minor honours. It wasn’t Will’s finest effort and quite rightly he got a hefty ban for misuse of the stick – he is a good rider, but it’s a big learning curve for him.
