It was lovely to get back into the winning groove with two winners last week after 14 days of no jump racing. Sea The Clouds was gutsy and game and managed to win despite the race not going his way. The rain fell in its bucket loads prior to his race and the ground turned soft. Clouds didn’t appreciate that, and struggled to jump out of it. However, Gavin pulled him wide, and he ran on well and got up in the shadows of the post despite Gavin losing his stick three out! I’d like to hope that there is more to come from this former bumper and novice hurdle winner, especially as we go up in trip.

Buckos Boy appears to be in the form of his life now, as he followed up his win at Bangor off a 7lbs higher mark to win at Stratford in rain softened ground, under another fine ride from Gavin. Page and Saffie do a wonderful job with him at home, and I am sure this 5-time winner can keep progressing.

Cairo King was 3rd on his debut for us at Stratford last week. He had been too keen when he made his racecourse debut for another yard, but he settled better here, and he should have a bright future. Meanwhile, it was lovely to see No Anxiety back on the track after 600 days off. He was 4th, and should improve for that outing, and will be seen to better effect when back over fences.
We held our annual owners party on Saturday, where we paraded about 40 of our string in front of 250 guests. It was a pleasure to show off some of the established stars, and some of the newcomers we have bought over the summer months. The sun shone, and we enjoyed drinks and canapes in the garden where a jazz band entertained us. All in all, a lovely afternoon, and hopefully another really exciting season is just around the corner.
