I was impressed with Pisgah Pike’s victory on his chasing debut at Worcester yesterday.  He was a good novice hurdler last summer winning on two occasions and was just touched off in a listed handicap at Market Rasen.  However, he had always promised to be a better chaser, and he looks an exciting horse for the better ground.  He travelled and jumped well, and battled bravely.  There should be more to come from him now.  However, the BHA haven’t programmed any WFA novice chases throughout July and August – which is totally crazy if we want to encourage better hurdlers to go chasing!  I have taken the matter up with the BHA, and they have promised to reverse their decision, and implent some novice chases into the programme book - watch this space….

We've only had one other runner this week, and it was good to see Fact of the Matter running well to be 3rd at Southwell.  He isn’t the horse he once was, but he still has the appetite for it, and on the back of that run, we should hopefully be able to find a race where he can win this summer and then bow out for a happy retirement as a final race winner.
