As the 2020/21 season draws to a close, I think it has to go down as a ‘tough but on the whole, a good season’.  Last season’s tally of 46 winners from 50 horses was always going to be tough to beat especially as we lost the first couple of months of this season due to the pandemic.   However, two Grade 2 winners, £250,000 in prizemoney and 35th in the trainer’s table is a respectable total, we ended with 23 winners, but a rather frustrating 38 seconds and 37 thirds.  It was quite apt that our last runner of the season was also 2nd as Floral Bouquet was only beaten half a length at Worcester on Friday evening.  Ga Law winning the Rising Stars at Wincanton was a great thrill, and it was lovely to see Anythingforlove winning the Jane Seymour at Sandown, and obviously it was good to have our first runner in the Grand National, who finished 2nd of the English!  We did however, have a lot of young horses and 65% of our bumper runners finished in the top three, and they are the future, so I very much look forward to the new season which starts on 1st May.
