I was delighted to see Lucy's Girl win her novice hurdle at Fontwell yesterday, and at 20-1.....  She has certainly rewarded John Finch's patience as she broke a pastern last season, but has come back better than ever.  She ran well on her debut for us until getting tired, and then had a couple of unfortunate runs where she unseated poor Brendan (who broke his arm), and then fell at Southwell on soft ground.  However, she only fell that day as she choked, and so after a minor wind op she came good yesterday.

Unfortunately we were unable to produce a double on the day, as Stormy Oscar could finish only 5th.  He travelled and jumped well, but got tired close home, and we really do need to find out why he's just not finishing his races, as if we can find the key, he should be able to win plenty of races.....

I popped over to Kingwood stud earlier this week and brought back both Houndscourt and Future Gilded.  Houndscourt has had a wind op over the summer, and he should be a decent horse for us this winter.  Future Gilded is the good looking horse we bought at the Arqana sales in July - he's a strapping horse, and a very exciting prospect.  There are still two 6th shares available in him, and if you are interested then please contact Jon Hughes through the website www.ownersforowners.co.uk
