The Highs and Lows.....

Last week we were on the crest of a wave as we had our first Festival winner, this week we're all absolutely devastated as Joanne One appears to have strained a tendon during the mares final at Newbury yesterday.  She is a seriously good mare, but ran no race yesterday, and now we know why.  What a shame.  We'll cold hose her leg, and wrap it up, and when the swelling comes down, we'll scan it to find out the extent of the injury, but 'you can never be a little bit pregnant'.

Of our other recent runners, Wyfield Rose has improved with each of her three hurdle starts and was 3rd at Ludlow on Thursday. She should find her way in mares handicaps over the spring. We’ll be renewing that little free lease partnership, so let me know if you would be interested in joining.

I was thrilled for Pat and Tony Bath that Tom Sang looks to have a future over fences, as he was 3rd on his chasing debut at Wetherby earlier this week. Queens Bay was 4th yesterday at Stratford having been off the track for well over a year. She’ll improve drastically for the run, and could have a real chance in the final at Cheltenham in mid April. Unfortunately Batu Ferringhi has lost his confidence since he was brought down at Warwick in December. He’ll head away on his hols now, and we’ll freshen him up again. Buxom has fallen out of love with the game, and she’ll head off to stud now – the winner of three races. I was pleased with Ethelred’s racecourse debut at Ffos Las last weekend – he could turn out to be a nice 3 mile chaser.
