Double Treasure was the first of our 'winter horses' to run this season and he won impressively at Newton Abbot last Saturday off an 11lbs higher mark than he had when winning well in the spring.  We gave him a bit of a break afterwards and he had his wind tinkered with over the summer and I hope he could be an exciting horse for us this season.  Aidan gave him another cracking ride and he won with quite a bit in hand.  The handicapper has taken no prisoners and given us 9lbs, but he looks progressive, and I hope we can find him another opportunity for him in the coming weeks.

Double Treasure wins well under Aidan Coleman

I'm thrilled with how the season has started for us and to be heading into the core season in the top 20 in the trainers championship with only a small handful of summer jumpers bodes well.  It was fitting that we held our annual owners open day last Sunday, where we paraded 40 horses before having lunch in the garden.  Thankfully the rain held off until we were in the marquee!

We had another couple of new arrivals to show in our parade as Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Cornwall has recently sent us Carntop.  A 4-year-old Dansili gelding who was rated 98 on the flat for Ralph Beckett.  Last season he was 2nd in the Lingfield Derby Trail behind Humphrey Bogart, with Land of hope and Glory back in 4th, who filled the same position in the Triumph hurdle last season.  Carntop's full brother was rated 132 over hurdles, so there is every hope this chap can develop into a high-class hurdler.

Carntop is an interesting recruit to the yard

Our other exciting new arrival is King Vince, who has now won two bumpers and looks a really smart prospect.  He was impressive when winning a Newton Abbot bumper where he beat a good yardstick and they pulled a long way clear.  He then showed real tenacity when winning at Fontwell under a penalty.  In both runs he recorded a very high rating, and he looks the type to go to the top.
