The facilties at Manor Farm Stables

Manor Farm, the training base for Jamie Snowden Racing, is located on the edge of Ebbesbourne Wake, a small village set in the heart of Cranborne Chase in the county of Wiltshire. The 280 acre farm is 10 minutes from Salisbury and just 20 minutes from the A303. Having the stables situated on the farm, we have access to a huge amount of grassland. All this space is a great benefit to the horses in terms of hacking, gallops, turn out and a change of scenery. The horses are turned out on a regular basis to allow them to enjoy their natural outdoor habitat.
Gallops

Our main gallop at Manor Farm is the state of the art Softrack Gallop.   Altogether it is 6 furlongs long, and consists of a 3 furlong loop, and a 4 furlong straight gallop.  It provides the ideal balance for stamina and quick work.  The farm lies on Chalk land which produces an ideal springy turf for the two grass canters at Manor Farm. These include a 5 furlong circular conditioning canter and a 6 furlong undulating canter.

We also have the use of two grass gallops (one within hacking distance, and one a ten minute drive away) to supplement our all-weather gallop which is on the farm.  Both grass gallops are a mile long, and provide a perfect incline, on old established turf.

Horsewalker
The walker at Manor Farm is covered so can be used in all weather conditions and will have rubbing matting to prevent slipping and unnecessary wear of shoes. It provides a great facility for warming up or cooling down horses before or after exercise.

Outdoor arena
Manor Farm Stables already has a state of the art 80m x 60m silica sand/clopf fibre outdoor arena. This provides a secure area for education and practice of basic jumping techniques. Education starts in the arena, and only once the basics have been accomplished are our horses allowed to set foot on the schooling ground. The arena also provides an ideal area for early morning warm up, as well as an area where lunging and flat work can take place.  We are also incredibly lucky as we can put our hurdles and our fences in the school, so we can school all year around - despite what the British weather throws at us....!

Schooling ground
The schooling ground at Manor Farm Stables is set in a large field and consists of a row of small logs and tyres, as well as traditional hurdles and fences. The schooling area is ideal for horses of different experience levels. Schooling is an essential part of National Hunt training, as ‘jumping is 'the name of the game.' Hours are spent here improving the style and confidence of our horses.

Stabling
The stable yard is built into an American style barn containing a capacity of 28 stables and a solarium box.  All boxes are large and airy ensuring good ventilation. This barns provide a quiet and relaxed atmosphere for the horses, and a secure and easily manageable working environment for the staff, and our owners' peace of mind!
