The Facilities at Manor Farm

Manor Farm Stables is located on the edge of Ebbesbourne Wake, a small village set in the heart of Cranborne Chase in the county of Wiltshire. The 280 acre farm is 10 minutes from Salisbury and 15 minutes from the A303. Having the stables situated on the farm, we will have access to a huge amount of grassland. All this space is a great benefit to the horses in terms of hacking, gallops, turn out and a change of scenery. The horses will be turned out on a regular basis to allow them to enjoy their natural outdoor habitat.

Stabling

The stable yard will be separated into two American style barns. Each barn will contain 10 stables and a solarium box. All boxes will be large and airy ensuring good ventilation, and contain rubber floor matting for added protection. These small barns provide a quiet and relaxed atmosphere for the horses, and a secure and easily manageable working environment for the staff, and our owners' peace of mind!

Horsewalker

The walker at Manor Farm will be covered so can be used in all weather conditions and will have rubbing matting to prevent slipping and unnecessary wear of shoes. It will provide a great facility for warming up or cooling down horses before or after exercise.

Outdoor arena

Manor Farm Stables already has a state of the art 80m x 60m silica sand/clopf fibre outdoor arena. This will provide a secure area for education and practice of basic jumping techniques. Education will start in the arena, and only once the basics have been accomplished will our horses be allowed to set foot on the schooling ground. The arena also provides an ideal area for early morning warm up, as well as an area where lunging and flat work can take place.

Schooling ground

The schooling ground at Ebbesbourne Wake will be set in a large field and will consist of a row of small logs and tyres, as well as traditional hurdles and fences. The schooling area will be ideal for horses of different experience levels. Schooling is an essential part of National Hunt training, as ‘jumping is the name of the game.' Hours will be spent here improving the style and confidence of our horses.

Gallops

Cranborne Chase lies on Chalk land, which produces an ideal springy turf for the two grass gallops at Manor Farm. These include a 5 furlong circular conditioning gallop and a 6 furlong undulating gallop. An additional 5 furlong all weather Martin Collins ‘Euro track' gallop is also being built. This will run along the side of the Downs, and will provide a perfect incline gallop for interval training.
